Hello Family!

Hope this finds you doing well and awaiting anxiously to hear the latest plans about our FAMILY REUNION. As many of you may know, our dear Uncle Baheej contacted the Magnuson hotel in Marion, VA with plans for a reunion. He was able to lock in a room rate of $55.00 + tax. However, with him being so ill during the past year, some of the final details were in question and the communication weak. Today, some of us took it upon ourselves to finalize these details in order to make this happen and to do so in a timely fashion since we have just a few weeks before the weekend of June 25th.

Please make note of the following:

WHAT: Aboul Hosn Family Reunion

WHERE: Magnuson Hotel

1424 N. Main St.

Marion, VA

WHEN: June 25, 26, 27

RESERVATIONS: [276] 378-0481

Ask for Sheila or Kelley when booking your reservations.

Currently, the plans are as follows;

FRIDAY [6/25]

For those who wish to arrive on this day, we do not have plans but there is a regular size room available for us to use as a hospitality room. It sits in front of the pool and the number is 2201 . We will provide soft drinks and water bottles but encourage you to bring your own snacks if desirable. This room will be opened until midnight and reopened by 7:30 am.

SATURDAY [6/26]

Complimentary continental breakfast is included with your room. Located in the lobby, they offer bagels and donuts with coffee and juice. The good news is the Sugar Grove Diner which is attached to the hotel is opened for breakfast and has a fabulous breakfast menu. The prices range from $2.00-6.00 a plate. The homestyle food is cooked to order and delicious.

The day is OPEN to do as you would like. Some may enjoy hanging out and visiting poolside or enjoying each others company and catching up in the comforts of an air conditioned hospitality room. The pool is well maintained but is low on lounge chairs. Some may want to bring one or two of their own. But for the more adventurous, there is plenty to do in Marion and its' surrounding areas.

Much has improved since our last family reunion in Marion. The historic downtown has been restored and revitalized to it's original charm. Being nestled in southwestern Virginia, Marion is the gateway to both Hungary Mother State Park and the highest peak in Virginia, Mount Rogers. This allows the opportunity for hiking, biking, fishing, paddle boating, or simple enjoying the view of the beautiful lake while having lunch at the Restaurant at Hungary Mother Park where you can breathe in mountain air and enjoy the beautiful surrounding scenery.

Oh, and did I mention a stroll down Main Street will take you to some very quaint and fun shops as well some charming restaurants?

How many of you know that the drink, MOUNTAIN DEW, is a product of Marion? I was surprised with this bit of trivia myself.

DINNER will take place in the dining room of the Sugar Grove Restaurant. A banquet area has been reserved for us to use from 5:30 until 8:30 where we will be able to order individually from the restaurant's main menu. Again, the food is good and the prices are very reasonable [ranging from $5. to $12.00]. We can hang out in the dining room until about 9:30 but the kitchen will not serve after 8:30.

SUNDAY

The Sugar Grove Restaurant is closed on Sunday. We are in the process of making final plans for a breakfast/brunch meal as we prepare to say our good-byes. However, we will need a head count before doing so. Please, please, please, help us out by letting us know if you are going to attend our reunion. Please make your reservation by June11 or contact Charlene or Susie Jones if you have any questions.

Let's ALL come together to celebrate our heritage, our family and Uncle Baheej who turned 92 this year. God bless him. While we are very much aware that this hotel is not exactly [or even close] to being the 'Ritz', let's get past that fact and remember why we are coming together. The fact that Uncle Baheej who is very sick took it upon himself to plan a reunion is a true testament to what our family stands for ... love and devotion. Please, honor our name, family and Uncle Baheej by joining us during this special weekend and make your reservation, TODAY!

FYI

The EconoLodge is located next door and in fact shares a parking lot. The facility is small but the rooms have been newly refurbished with new carpet, paint and linens. For those of you who would like a 'newer' room they will give us a rate of $59.99 + tax and will match the rate at Magnuson if we have 10 or more rooms reserved. If interested, contact Sandip Patel, (276)783-6031 and tell him you are with the Aboul Hosns.

Looking forward to seeing you in Marion!!

Thursday, May 01st, 2008

from E. Ghassan Aboulhosn:

Dear Cousins and Friends:

Hope all continues to go well for you and your loved ones.

This is to inform you that we officially booked the Fredericksburg Hospitality House and Conference Center for our 2008 Reunion.

The dates are June 27, 2008 to June 29, 2008. We blocked a number of rooms for the 27 and 28. There are a lot of interesting places to be visited in the area. Those of us who would like to arrive at the hotel prior to those dates or wish to stay longer should have no problems getting the rate we arranged for the Aboulhosn Reunion: $89.00.

The hotel advised that several rooms had already been booked, even before this announcement. The number of rooms we blocked is limited, and the hotel will hold them at our rate only until May 28, 2008. So please call the hotel at 540-786-8321 and tell them you are with the Aboulhosn Reunion.

We will write as we get closer to the date with more details.

See you in Fredericksburg.

Ghassan

Saturday, April 12th, 2008

from E. Ghassan Aboulhosn:

Dear Folks:

First and foremost, greetings to the Aboulhosn family and to our friends.

We have been working on figuring the status of the 2008 Aboulhosn reunion,

and I know that many of us have been wondering what will happen this year.

I got good news.

After considering several options, including coinciding with the ADS gathering in Florida,

we decided to hold the reunion a few days before. The area and hotel, while very nice,

would not be as expensive as the accommodations in Florida, and yet would allow

those who want to make both events to do so.

We will reserve a number of rooms at the The Fredericksburg Hospitality House and Conference

Center. The hotel is located at 2801 Plank Road, Fredericksburg, VA 22401

Phone number: 540-736-1006 or 540-786-8321 ext. 7112.

The room rate is $89.00 plus tax. This includes breakfast.

Please be sure to mention that you are with the Aboulhosn family.

The rooms will be available to us at this rate until May 28, 2008. After that date,

whatever is not sold to us will go back to regular market rate. If you would like a virtual tour

of the hotel and information about it, please visit: http://www.fredericksburghospitalityhouse.com

For those who are not familiar with the area, Federicksburg is between Richmond, VA and

Washington, DC. It is within an easy ride to King’s Dominion amusement park. Convenient rail

service is available to Union Station in DC, which puts one near the museums and monuments.

If train travel is not your thing, DC is about an hour’s drive away.

Many of Virginia’s historical areas are within a short drive. Williamsburg and the attractions

in the Williamsburg area are also within driving distance.

As before, we will start arriving on Friday June 27, 2008. We will have a meeting/hospitality suite

donated by the hotel. We will register for the banquet and dance set for Saturday and a picnic for

Sunday. (The picnic option is still open). Saturday you may want to visit the near by sites

As of this writing, the fee for all this is approximately $75.00. We are still talking with the hotel

to see if we can realize further savings.

At this stage, I need your input and assistance. To decide whether to make the commitment

the hotel is requiring, I need to know if you will be able to make it to the reunion, and how many

members may be in your party.

Your response to this request in as timely a fashion as possible is essential; the hotel has given

us until April 30 to decide.

You may reach me at emiliobeyk@hotmail.com , or in the evenings at 703-754-8252.

Thank you and hopefully we will see each other in Fredericksburg!

Ghassan

Hello my dears cousins and all members this wonderful Family. I'll be great to know when and where gonna happen our "Family Reunion 2008". Keep in touch, fellows. Sincerely, HASSAN ABOUL-HOSN.

from Kamal:

It looks like some have been having trouble posting pictures into the web page. Turns out there was an issue, but all should be resolved now. Here are the steps for posting pictures on the Aboul-Hosn family site:

1. Go to the Pictures section and click on "Register." Enter all required information.

2. When you get an email, click on the link the email says can be used to finish the registration process.

3. On the Pictures page, click on "Login." Use the user name and password you just registered. If all goes well, you should see "Your Account" and "Logout" in the upper right-hand corner.

4. To add an album of pictures, scroll to the bottom of the page and where it says "Album Actions," select "Add Album."

5. Type in the required information. At the very least, you should put in a name and a title.

6. When the new album is created, click "Add Items" in the options list on the left. You will likely use "From Web Browser," "Windows XP," or "Upload Applet." Select the pictures you wish to add and put captions, if you wish.

Your pictures should now appear in the photo gallery.

from Ghassan Aboulhosn:

Dear Cousins:

Our folks in Richmond, true to their reputation, are busily organizing activities, which will make our reunion that much more enjoyable.

Wajdih got the Sheraton to make the Presidential Suite available for us to gather.

There we will conduct the registration on Friday evening, and we will organize and distribute information about the activities that are planned for the weekend.

Amer Shakeeb is putting together a visual “trip through the years”, and he requests that we provide him with any digital pictures of the village, Lebanon, and the family that you may have. Aemer hopes to put together the kind of show that would take you to past reunions as well as bring sights of Btecknay and Lebanon to you.

Please send your pictures to Amer at: majdhosn@comcast.net

Please be sure to report to the Fairmont Suites, which is the name for the Presidential Suite, when you come to the Sheraton.

Please bear in mind the all the rooms we had blocked at the Sheraton have been sold.

Wajdih convinced the AmeriSuites to allow a few more days before they close out our block of rooms. Please see our previous posting about the

AmeriSuites for more information. We now have until the June 1, 2007 to reserve your rooms at the AmeriSuites and get the Aboulhosn rates.

Please pass the word. This is a great time to be in the Richmond area because of Jamestown’s 400th anniversary. You will really enjoy the trip into history being planned. Don’t miss this runion!!

See you there…

Ghassan

Tuesday, May 22nd, 2007

from Ghassan Aboulhosn:

Dear Cousins:

Hope all is going well for you.

We are only a week from the 29th, the cut-off date to reserve our rooms at the Aboulhosn rates.

It is exciting to tell you that our folks have booked all the rooms we had blocked at the Sheraton. In fact, the Sheraton informed us that the hotel is fully sold for those dates.

We also blocked a number of rooms at the AmeriSuites Hotel, 804-560-1566, Mr. Joe Gajewski is our contact. The AmeriSuites, 201 Arboretum Place, is about a mile from the Sheraton. The AmeriSuites informed us that we still have—as of this writing-- a few rooms from those we blocked available.

This year is a particularly good year to be in the Richmond area at this time. This year, in Jamestown, the 400th anniversary of the establishment of the first permanent British settlement is being celebrated, and are they celebrating!

Our folks in Richmond have arranged—among other things-- for transportation to Jamestown on Saturday, June 30th.

This promises to be very well attended, chock-full of activities reunion. Make sure you don’t miss it.

Remember, your rooms must be reserved by the 29th of May to get the rates.

To those of you who have already reserved your rooms and are set to come to Richmond, it will be great seeing you.

Because our mailing lists are limited to the addresses we have, we need your help in getting the word out. You know that our reunions are only as much fun as we make them. And the more of us show up, the more fun we can make them. So please pass the word about the reunion.

See you there,

Ghassan (Jamil Barackat) Aboulhosn

from Ghassan Jamil (Barakat) Aboulhosn:

Hello Cousins:

Tanya Khaled Abul Hosn was tragically taken from us on July 3rd in Beirut Lebanon.

I grew up with Tanya at school in Beirut at the American Community School and always visited her village in Btekhnay as I was next door in Bmariam.

I never knew God could choose to take you Tanya when it could have easily been me. I will forever remember the precious childhood and teenage days that we spent together at school and in our villages.

I am happy to know that you were born again shortly thereafter to a mother who was blessed to have a baby girl with your spirit full of life, love, and joy...

Ya hayati ya Tanya...how we will all miss you...

from Kamal Aboul-Hosn:

Hello, everyone!

Let me say that it was great to get to see everyone at the reunion this year! I have some wonderful memories as I'm sure many of you do. I know that many of you took pictures and video at the reunion and it would be perfect for everyone to share those. For pictures, there are a couple options. You may register and upload pictures on your own at http://www.aboulhosn.org/gallery2 by clicking on "register" on the right. You will receive an email that allows you to set up a password and upload pictures after logging in. The other option is to email me (kamal@aboulhosn.org) the pictures you want posted and I will be happy to put them up.

I saw several people who had video cameras as well and I'd like to create a montage video of the reunion to post on the website. If you took video and would be able to send it to me, that would be great! I can take them in either VHS or Mini-DV format (the tape that comes directly from the camera). If you send me the tape, I can transfer it to the computer and mail the tape back to you. If you took any video and would like it included in the montage, please mail the tape to:

Kamal Aboul-Hosn

If you have any additional questions or suggestions, please let me know. I'm looking forward to seeing you all at the reunion next year in Hershey, PA!

from Ghassan Abulhasan:

Dear Aboulhosns:

We are fast approaching May 24. That is the cut-off date when our preferred room rate may end. The room rate could change from $99.00 to $135.00.

If you plan to stay at the Clarion during our reunion, I urge you to reserve your rooms before the 24th of May. Please call the Clarion, 727-220-1410. Be sure to tell them you are with the Aboulhosn family

If you plan to join us in the banquet, it would be helpful to us if you let us know that, and how many of your group will attend. We have to give the hotel a pretty accurate number of attendees. We loose money when we don’t give the hotel good estimates. You can help us by clicking on the registration link on the left to fill out the form.

Several rooms have been booked, and there are a few still available from the number we blocked.

Combining the list of folks who registered on this web page with the several who stated they are coming, this will be a very well attended reunion.

We talked with Bush Gardens. The standard admission charge for adults is $49.99. They have group rates. A group of 15 would be charged $43.00 per adult, and $36.00 for children from 3 to 6 years of age. If we get a group of 40 or more, the charge would be $35.00 for adults, $10.50 for a meal Bush Gardens would provide, and $28.00 for kids, with $9.00 for the meal.

We reserved 20 tickets for Saturday just in case. Once there we can increase of decrease that number.

Please pass the word. Some of us won’t read this notice on the Internet, and this is the last notice we will send about the reunion.

See you in historic Williamsburg.

Saturday, February 19th, 2005

from E. Ghassan Abulhasan:

Dear Aboul-Hosns:

This letter is to inform you of the latest about our Family’s 2005 Reunion.

We have arranged for the Reunion to take place from June 24, to 26, 2005. The place is Historic Williamsburg, VA.

We blocked a number of rooms at the Clarion Hotel Conference Center Historic, 500 Merrimac Trail. The phone number for reservations is: 757-220-1410.

The rate per room for our event is $99.00 per night. For those of us who may want to take advantage of this reduced rate and occasion to make a longer visit to the Williamsburg area, the hotel agreed to honor this rate for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday preceding our Reunion. The hotel will hold our rooms until May 24, 2005. Rooms will be released to general sales after that date and will be sold to us at the reduced rate if available. Don’t forget that this is peak tourism season for the area. Please make your reservations early!! We don’t want anyone to get left out.

Please be sure to mention that you are with the Aboulhosn family group when making your reservations.

The schedule is:

Friday June 24, 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm

Reception and Registration. Finger Foods, Refreshments, and cash bar.

Saturday 7:00-10:00 am

Buffet breakfast

On your own to explore.

Hotel staff will be happy to provide with tickets, brochures, and information for your activities throughout your stay.

Saturday 7:30 pm to mid-night

Banquet and dance. Pop and Arabic dance music for those who want to shake it. The hotel has planned a delicious menu with foods and desserts that will delight the most discerning palates. Refreshments with your meal, and cash bar.

Sunday 9:00 am to 11:00 am

Buffet breakfast. Come at your leisure. A brief Business meeting is scheduled for 10:00 am. Your attendance will be appreciated. We will decide on our future plans at this time.

If you have a specific issue you would like to

bring to the floor, please submit it to Ghassan at emiliobeyk@hotmail.com or 703-754-8252 evenings, or Chouki at C.Hosn@haengineers.com , Phone: 804-357-4366 or Wajdih

at wajdih@comcast.net day-time phone number,

804-901-1544. in advance for consideration.

The Williamsburg area has many attractions for all ages. Its role in American history is unique. Sites have been preserved, and museums may be toured which provide in depth knowledge about the birth of our chosen country. Or you and your group may want to take a horse-drawn carriage ride through the historic town.

Amusement parks, such as Busch Gardens, are a short drive away and will make for a lot of family fun. The shop-aholics will be able to over-dose at this place! There is a bus/shuttle service from the hotel that will transport you to the historic area.

For the golfers, some of the best fairways and greens await you! Schedule your Tee time at the hotel. Tennis anyone? Let’s get enough players and we will have a tournament. Bring your rackets. If you would rather just relax, visit and catch up, we will be provided with a comfortable, well appointed Hospitality area.

Restaurants for all tastes and budgets are in abundance, from elegant dining to burgers and fries.

The one thing that will make this a great reunion will be your presence. Based on the response we got from our initial inquiry through the Internet, this is shaping up to be just that- a great Reunion. Thank you for your responses.

We are posting a registration form on our web page. Please go to www.aboulhosn.org and follow the links to register for the reunion. Remember, this registration is not for the hotel. You must call the hotel to reserve your rooms. The registration on the web is to help us in estimating attendance. Please be sure to call the hotel before May 24, 2005.

Let’s make this the Mother of all Reunions!!

Hi everyone! The family website has moved to a new server (which is not running out of my house). This means a faster website and a smaller chance of a crash. If something isn't working, please let me know!

from Ghassan Abulhasan:

Dear Cousins:

I am writing to ask for your assistance. I need your input so that we could reach some consensus on :

a) Should we hold a reunion this year?

b) If so, will you attend and support the reunion?

These are the facts and terms:

The hotel Chouki is reserving for the reunion is the Marriott in Williamsburg, VA.

While we are negotiating with the hotel, we need to know if you will attend. The date is June 24 –26, 2005. The hotel is located near many historical and recreational attractions. The Marriott is one of the better hotels in Williamsburg.

Chouki negotiated a room rate of $139.00 per night. To make this a successful reunion, we need to book al least 50 rooms. This will translate to an attendance of about 125 of us.

So that we can decide whether to make the commitments the hotel requires, we need to have a commitment from you. This will let us know if we should hold the reunion this year.

Please let me know by return e-mail if you are coming. We must have your response before February 10,2005. I urge you to please let me know.

My e-mail address is emiliobeyk@hotmail.com

Your help is appreciated,

Hope to see you at the reunion,

Ghassan

from Kamal:

I have added one more feature to the webpage at the request of those who have expressed concern that the directory, with email addresses listed, could increase the amount of spam people get. Now, when going to browse the directory, one must type "Aboul-Hosn" into the box provided in order to gain access. This will keep programs used to collect email addresses out of our family directory. You should only have to type it in once per visit to the website. I apologize for the minor inconvenience, but I think in the end, it will benefit us all!

Sunday, June 20th, 2004

from Kamal:

Welcome to the new and improved Aboul-Hosn Family Webpage! You will notice a lot of changes on the page. Here is a detailed list:

1) Completely new layout. All pages have been redesigned for a better look and more functionality.

2) Headlines on the Home page. The headlines, which come from The Daily Star, update automatically.

3) Better search/display abilities in the directory. Now, you can sort the data by a desired field, choose whether or not to group people at the same address, and choose a number of results per page to display.

4) New fields in the Directory. Now, you can enter an instant messenger screen name, occupation, and company, as well as assign a phone number to each individual rather than a family as a whole.

5) Pictures! The process of adding pictures has gotten a lot easier. Now, on the pictures page, you can click on "Register" to create an account to give you access to upload photos. Please upload pictures anytime you want! You can also add a picture to your directory entry, which will appear whenever someone scrolls over your entry in the directory.

I hope you find these new features useful and fun. I'm looking forward to seeing all of you at the reunion in less than a week!

Hello to Everyone!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank those people who have taken on the task of saving our reunion this year. I know how much work it takes to organizing our Family Reunion and even more effort is needed to do so at the last minute. Thank you.

I also know that it is virtually impossible to please everyone all the time or maybe even some of the time. However, I would like to encourage you to consider voting for our reunion to take place in the Smokey Mts..I know PineIsle is a lovely place and one I would like to visit some day but it has limited activities for the entire family. Pigeon Forge, in the Smokies, has variety of places and things to do for people of all ages. Gary Alexander has done the research and is prepared to move forward with plans if you want him to do so. Please take a moment and pull up the websites posted for more information about the area.

My best to all.

From Gary Alexander:

Greetings to our family!

We have been asked to look for an alternative site for this year's reunion. We propose The Grand Resort Hotel in Pigeon Forge, TN, located at the foot of the Great Smokey Mountains, America's most-visited national park. This area is a fast-growing tourist mecca with an amazing variety of attractions. (This is 30 miles from Knoxville.)

Pigeon Forge is home to Dollywood (a miniature Disney-like park), numerous attractions such as water parks, Ripley's Aquarium, museums, musical theatres, helicopter rides, adventure golf, and hundreds of outlet stores. Nearby Gatlinburg also offers a variety of shops and attractions such as sky trams and even "snow" skiing in summer. Take a short drive up to Clingman's Dome, hike up to the tower and view seven states. There are so many attractions, one could stay for weeks and not see everything. All this is in a safe, friendly, Southern atmosphere. Many attractions are within walking distance of the hotel and trolleys run between major attractions.

The hotel is affordable ($79.95/night for three nights, $89.95/night for two) and they would be very accomodating. Please visit the following websites for photos and more information on the area: www.grandresorthotel.com, www.pigeonforgechamber.com, www.ripleysaquariumofthesmokeys.com, www.Dollywood.com

Please visit the Aboulhosn home page and vote for your choice after viewing the information.

Thanks,

Gary Alexander Aboulhosn

Sorry, everyone, it looks like the directory wasn't working. I had made some changes to the "Add/Update Entry" page which made it so it was impossible to add an entry. If you tried adding yourself within the last week or so, please try again. Sorry for the inconvenience!

From Kamal:

I've added a message board to the website. This is a place where everyone can have discussions and exchange messages. Once you go to the Message Board, you will see a list of topics. You can click on one and see all of the messages posted there. Clicking on a message will display the message and any replies to it.

Please post anything you want on the message board! I've already started a message in the "Family Reunion" topic about my experiences at this last family reunion.

From Kamal:

I added more picture of the 2002 Family Reunion, sent to me by my Uncle Samir. Seeing the pictures serves as even more of a reminder of the fun I had there!
